2x 50m3 caustic soda storage tanks for Kalle

Kalle GmbH, Europe’s leading producer of casings for meat products and vegetarian, vegan foods, has ordered two tanks for the storage of caustic soda. It is an essential chemical for purifying the exhaust gas.

Project specification

Gpi was awarded the contract to supply two flat-bottom tanks specifically tailored to Kalle’s needs. The design and production phase was meticulously planned to meet the requirements of DIN 4119. Stainless steel 304 type was chosen for its excellent corrosion resistance, which is crucial for the storage of caustic soda.

With a capacity of 50m3, the tank reaches a height of approximately 10 metres and a diameter of 3 metres. The storage temperature must be above 35 °C all year round. To ensure this, 100 mm thick mineral wool insulation was used.

Delivery and installation

The tanks were delivered to the Kalle GmbH plant in Wiesbaden, Germany. The project was successfully completed, meeting all customer requirements and expectations. The professionalism and experience of the Gpi Poland team was highlighted by Marco Scala, Maintenance Engineer at Kalle.

‘The tanks were delivered this morning and installed straight away. Everything worked very well. Many thanks to the whole team for their professional and extremely satisfying project management’. – Marco Scala, Maintenance Engineer at Kalle Group.

The successful delivery and installation of the caustic soda storage tanks has increased the production capacity of Kalle GmbH.
