Boboli: ‘With the new stainless steel tank, we work more efficiently and safely’
Gpi supplies a 35 m³ stainless steel rapeseed oil tank to focaccia and pizza snack producer
Boboli supplies Italian bread specialities, such as pizza snacks and focaccias, to retail, out-of-home, and inflight catering. The company produces these products at its production facility in Bunschoten. To make the production process more efficient, the need arose for a new stainless steel tank for rapeseed oil storage.
Serge Langenhuijsen, Supply Chain Manager at Boboli, explains the project: ‘Previously, we used IBC tanks with a capacity of 1,000 litres of oil, which resulted in a lot of internal transport. To simplify the production process, we were looking for a more efficient solution. We concluded that a new stainless steel tank would be the ideal solution.’
Request to Gpi
Serge explains the considerations when selecting a tank manufacturer: ‘Our IBC supplier recommended two companies, including Gpi. We then requested a quotation from Gpi and were pleased with their proposal. The fast delivery time was a decisive factor. Additionally, we had a good impression of Gpi – they appeared professional and knowledgeable.’

The assignment
Gpi designed a stainless steel storage tank of type 304L with a capacity of 35 m³, enough to accommodate an entire tanker truck delivery. Boboli uses the tank to store rapeseed oil for its production process. Since the tank is placed outdoors, it is insulated with mineral wool and finished with aluminium cladding. Just over three months after confirming the order, the tank was ready for transport.
Transport and Installation
Gpi arranged road transport within a week after the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), moving the 3,000 kg tank from Lopik to Bunschoten. The tank, with a total height of 7.65 metres and a diameter of 5 metres, was placed and securely anchored by Gpi’s technicians on the designated foundation outside the production facility in Bunschoten. Gpi also supplied the top railing and cage ladder, ensuring safe access to the connection and manhole on top of the tank.
The result
The arrival of the new stainless steel tank has made Boboli’s operations more efficient. Serge explains: ‘With the new stainless steel tank, our workflow has become much more efficient and hassle-free. The supply of rapeseed oil is now much easier to manage. A tanker truck can deliver at any time, which is far more practical. We always have sufficient rapeseed oil in stock and no longer need to move IBC tanks constantly. It requires virtually no effort on our part. Besides being more efficient, it is also safer.’
