Nine 250 m³ silos for raw milk storage at a leading dairy facility in Scotland
For an ongoing project in Scotland, we have recently successfully transported and installed the first milk tanks. Within this project, we are supplying a total of nine tanks, each with a capacity of 250 m³, for the storage of raw milk at the Scottish production site of a leading dairy company. With a capacity of 250 m³ per tank, these raw milk tanks are ideally suited for large-scale dairy operations in an industrial environment with a continuous production process.
The milk tanks are manufactured from stainless steel 304 and finished with aluminium trapezoidal cladding. In addition, the tanks are equipped with walk-under tunnels, platforms and access ladders in stainless steel. The project involves large volumes within a tight schedule, with high requirements in terms of hygiene, reliability and logistics, requiring transport and installation to be perfectly aligned.
Production of these milk tanks takes place at our production facilities in both Groot-Ammers and Lopik. Due to the scale of the project and the critical lead time, a phased approach has been chosen. Delivery and installation are carried out in three batches of three tanks each, ensuring a manageable schedule and consistent progress. To enable this delivery, the fence at our Groot-Ammers location was modified so the tanks could be transported via the dike.
At Gpi, we design, manufacture and deliver customised tanks and process solutions. Each project starts with a thorough engineering phase, based on process data, available space and logistical boundary conditions. Engineering, production and quality control are all carried out in-house. The first transports and installations provide a clear impression of the scale and complexity of this project. In the coming period, the remaining milk tanks will be produced, transported and installed according to plan.
