Madonis: “Thanks to the buffer tanks, the process is now fully automated”

Gpi Tanks Poland supplies 21 stainless steel tanks for a modern production line

As part of the expansion of a technological installation for the production of household chemicals, Nova Process carried out a comprehensive project for its client Madonis. A key element of the investment was the implementation of a modern system for storing and mixing process media, in which the tanks supplied by Gpi Tanks Poland played an important role. The tanks must be designed for full integration with the production line, including a direct connection to the technological process.

The scope

The scope of the project included the delivery of 21 stainless steel tanks, comprising 18 buffer tanks with capacities ranging from 28 to 50 m³ and 3 mixing tanks with a capacity of 25 m³, equipped with agitators from Redor.

The buffer tanks are to be used for the storage of raw materials, base products, and finished goods in a household chemicals installation. Designed in accordance with SEP, with a design pressure of -0.5/+0.5 mbarg and a design temperature of 0/75°C. Manufactured in stainless steel 1.4404 / 316L in contact with the product, with auxiliary components made of 1.4307 / 304L and 1.4301 / 304

The process tanks are designed for product mixing and are equipped with agitators from Redor. Design parameters: pressure -5.0/+5.0 mbarg and temperature 0/75°C. Material execution consistent with the buffer tanks, with a maximum medium density of up to 1,100 kg/m³. All mixing parameters were verified during the design phase.

Nova Process and initial phase of the project

Nova Process is an engineering company specializing in the design and implementation of technological installations for industry. It offers comprehensive support, from concept development, through design and equipment manufacturing, to the assembly and commissioning of production lines.
As emphasized by Grzegorz Jędraszczyk, CEO Nova Process: “Gpi was involved in the project from the very beginning as a trusted partner from a previous project, where we also had the opportunity to work together.”
The decision to select the tank supplier was made by the end client, however, experience from previous joint projects had a significant impact on the course of the cooperation.

Tanks and engineering tailored to the process

The scope of delivery was extensive and included storage tanks for raw materials, process mixers, as well as tanks for base products and finished goods. Each tank was individually designed, taking into account its function within the installation, location, and method of integration with the plant infrastructure.
At the same time, selected groups of tanks, common dimensions, diameter, and height, were maintained, which enabled efficient installation of operating platforms mounted directly on the tanks.
“The Gpi project team approaches their work very professionally. The cooperation runs smoothly and at a good pace, and changes are implemented on an ongoing basis. Mixing parameters are always properly verified and calculated” – adds Grzegorz.

Production, transport and installation

All tanks were manufactured at the Gpi Tanks Poland production facility in Skarbimierz. During the project, representatives of Nova Process visited the facility during FAT tests. “Professional preparation for FAT, available measuring equipment, complete documentation – everything was in place.”
The transport of the tanks was carried out according to schedule, and their installation was the responsibility of the end client.

Final result and process optimization

For Madonis, the implementation of the new installation meant a significant change in the organization of production. As emphasized by Gustaw Blom, CEO Madonis: “We moved from 8-ton containers to 25-ton ones, which means we tripled the production scale. Buffer tanks are a huge facilitation, previously everything was stored in containers and barrels, substances were transferred. Today, the process is fully automated.”
The tanks are used for the production of a wide range of household chemicals, including laundry capsules, gels, and cleaning agents for kitchens, bathrooms, and surfaces.
“The project was led by Nova Process, and in the event of any issues, the response from Gpi was immediate. The cooperation met our expectations.” – adds Gustaw.

Summary of the cooperation

The project carried out for Madonis shows how important it is to combine the experience of a technological installation integrator with the competencies of a tank manufacturer. Thanks to close cooperation between all parties, it was possible to create a solution tailored to the process, which truly improves production and increases its efficiency.
