Ystral: “The new tanks provide us with greater flexibility”

Gpi supplies 6 stainless steel tanks for Ystral

Ystral is a company operating in the mechanical and industrial engineering sector, specializing in the design and production of custom mixing and dispersing machines, as well as powder wetting systems for flow mechanics technology. Their technologies are widely used across various industries, including the food sector, supporting processes such as emulsification, homogenization, and mixed dispersion. To expand its production capabilities and ensure greater flexibility in the supply chain, Ystral was looking for a new supplier of process tanks.

“We needed a partner who could not only meet our technical requirements but also deliver the tanks within a short timeframe,” says Fridolin Berk, Team Leader Projects at Ystral. “When we started looking for a supplier, delivery time was a key criterion. Gpi Tanks Poland proved that they could meet our expectations in terms of both quality and lead time.”

Two assignments

The first order included two 1,300-liter stainless steel tanks specifically designed for powder processing. These tanks were engineered to withstand an operating pressure of -55.0 to +110.0 mbarg and temperatures between 0 and 70°C.

“Gpi’s engineering team ensured that the tanks met all process requirements while maintaining the highest quality standards,” – says Ystral’s Team Leader Projects. The tanks were designed with specific requirements for storing and processing bulk substances in mind, ensuring seamless integration into Ystral’s production processes.

In addition to the powder processing tanks, Ystral ordered four 3 m³ stainless steel (316L) tanks for mixing aromas, each with customized nozzle orientation to meet installation requirements. Designed to operate under challenging conditions, these tanks withstand an operating pressure of -1.0 to +0.5 barg and temperatures ranging from 0 to 100°C, with a maximum media density of 1,200 kg/m³.

Fridolin is enthusiastic about the design stage: “We recognized the professionalism of Gpi’s engineers – they not only provided all the necessary calculations but also actively sought the best solutions instead of just following our guidelines.”

Production and delivery

All the tanks were produced at Gpi’s production hall in Skarbimierz and transported by road to the client’s site in Ballrechten-Dottingen, Germany. Fridolin is enthusiastic about the process “Although we couldn’t attend the FAT test, Gpi provided us with full documentation and photo reports. This allowed us to thoroughly review all the details before delivery.” Transport and installation also went smoothly. “The well-thought-out tank design, including properly engineered lifting lugs, significantly facilitated the assembly process,” adds Fridolin.

Results and cooperation

Thanks to the new tanks, the company can now carry out its operations even more efficiently. “The new tanks are already in use, and we are satisfied with their quality — they provide us with greater flexibility. Both technically and visually, the tanks have met our expectations.” Fridolin says.

Ystral particularly appreciated the smooth communication throughout the project execution. “The responses from Gpi’s team were quick and precise. This made the entire collaboration efficient and free from unnecessary delays.”
