Beer tanks for Tyskie beer
Gpi Tanks has designed and produced two beer tanks for Polish brewer Tyskie. This special project involved close collaboration between Gpi Tanks NL and Gpi Tanks PL.
The best-known yeast is brewer’s yeast. During the fermentation process when making beer and wine, yeast converts the sugars that are present into alcohol. A key element of the fermentation process is the amount of oxygen: if no oxygen is present (anaerobic conditions), more alcohol is produced; if there is more oxygen, this results above all in growth of the bacterial colony. That is why fermentation is done in airtight spaces (fermentation tanks).
Another form of fermentation is converting biomass into biogas. This is an anaerobic process in which bacteria in the biomass convert the organic substances into biogas. The biomass that is fermented can be manure, or it can be a combination of various sorts of biomass (co-fermentation).
Gpi designs and produces custom-made CCT fermentation tanks, BBT storage tanks and all other tanks that may be needed from 100 litres to 5,000 hectolitres.
CCT (cylindrical conical tank) fermentation tanks have conical bottoms and are used in the fermentation process for beer. BBT (bright beer tanks) are storage tanks that are used for the final step in the brewing process, after which the beer is ready to be bottled.
Different yeasts are used for fermenting biomass, i.e. converting organic matter into biogas. The biomass that is fermented can be manure, or it can be a combination of various sorts of biomass (co-fermentation).
Mono-fermenters only ferment manure, for example, and co-fermenters ferment a mixture of manure with other permitted fermentable substrates. The yields of co-fermentation are generally somewhat better.
We have noted over recent years that fermentation of biomass to produce biogas is a rapidly developing field. Demand for fermentation tanks for this application has increased substantially.
Gpi is an experienced supplier of fermentation tanks for biogas systems that are being constructed or expanded. Over the years, we have built numerous tanks and focused in particular on fermenters and pasteurisation tanks.
Gpi’s fermentation tanks stand out because we use the best structural materials in order to guarantee a long lifespan and low maintenance costs.

Haacht Brewery, based in Belgium, is a family-owned brewery which was founded in 1898. Gpi received the order to supply 4 vertical beer tanks – so-called cylindrical conical tanks (CCTs) – each with a capacity for 520 hl.
“Gpi certainly pulled out all the stops. They were really keen to win this contract. And they succeeded, mainly because they showed they understood the picture in every detail.“
Browar PINTA recently purchased 10 cylindrical conical beer tanks (CCT) from Gpi with a capacity of 100 hl (5 tanks), 200 hl (4 tanks) and 50 hl (1 tank) respectively. The order also included 2 bright beer tanks (BBT), each with a capacity of 195 hl.
Gpi provided two large storage tanks for an oleochemical manufacturer in Gouda. Each of the storage tanks has a capacity of 3.500m³. The tanks were transported upright from their production location of Groot-Ammers to the client’s factory in Gouda.
